Up North

We rented a small cabin for a few days about 50 miles north of us. It felt so good to get away and just be together. Jake was able to come and we brought Bear with us too. He has never been a big fan of water but he did venture out up to his middle. Once he was comfortable there he attempted to sit down in the lake but just as fast as he put his bottom down and his tail hit the water he put it back up. It was hilarious watching him!

We left the cell phones, laptop, and all other electronics at home (besides the TV/DVD player they had at the cabin) and spent time fishing, playing games, playing with the dog, and swimming.

We took a ferry ride to Washington Island - Savannah wasn't sure and had a lot of questions about how the Titanic sank and if there were sharks in the water. It was a lot of fun driving through all the towns and we stopped for smoked salmon and ice cream cones on the way home.

I really enjoyed myself and did not want to come home but I do look forward to the next part of our vacation in Wisconsin Dells.

Reliving old memories

We took Jake and Savannah to the drive in theater this weekend - it was a perfect night and it really brought back some old memories. There's just something about the movie playing outdoors that makes the experience. The Santa Fe was super comfy and it is definitely something I want to do again!

Me and My Sister

My sister visited from Utah to visit this summer - we had a great time together watching movies, eating out, and just being together. The first night she was here we took her out for sushi and we ate so much that we were uncomfortable for the rest of the night. But it was sooo good! We visited Bay Beach, made home made pizza, and she taught Charlie how to make cinnamon rolls. I think my favorite time we spent together was on my day off - we took Savannah to see Inside Out and went to lunch and shopping. We wanted to shop at Main Street in De Pere and were browsing in a consignment shop and were surprised to find Holly Hobbie plates from our childhood. We finished the afternoon off with a walk on the De Pere river walkway making fun of the silly pelicans. I am so glad she was also able to visit with my nephew, JJ and his wife and children a couple different times who traveled quite a ways from Indiana. We ate a lot, laughed a lot, and just had a great time. I am so glad she came.
